Classical Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by a man named Joseph Pilates. Originally called Contrology, this system of more than 500 exercises, was founded on the integrative effects of centering, concentration, control, precision, breath and flow. The result is a balanced body and a focused mind. Precision of movement, breath focus and core stabilization are applied with accurate alignment resulting in long lean muscles, a strong abdominal center and improved posture. A regular Pilates practice practice will build stamina and improve stability, as well as increase flexibility and overall range of motion.
